How to Splice With EPDM
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) is a waterproof and weather resistant material used to line roofs and ponds. When EPDM is applied to a curved surface, the material will need to be spliced together in several places to ensure the lining covers the area completely. Splicing with EPDM is a simple process that can be undertaken with a few basic materials from a hardware store.

1
Lay the first two pieces of EPDM you want to splice together on a flat surface in front of you.

Clean a 3-inch section along the two edges of the EPDM you will be joining together using unleaded gasoline and an old cloth.

Apply a piece of splicing tape to the clean edge of your first piece of EPDM.

4
Cut away any excess splicing tape from the piece of EPDM with your scissors.

Remove the paper backing on the splicing tape attached to your piece of EPDM to expose the second sticky side.

6
Place the clean edge of the second piece of EPDM on top of the splicing tape.

7
Roll a rolling pin or a paint roller along the join in the two pieces of EPDM to secure the splicing.
