How to Troubleshoot a Cursor That Jumps When Left-Clicking on an Object

Tips & Warnings
Insufficient power can cause the cursor to lag or leap around in a wireless mouse. If this is the case, recharging or replacing the batteries will resolve the issue.
A mouse pad with a smoother surface will cause an optical mouse to skid, causing the cursor to leap around. If this is the case, replacing the mouse pad that has a rougher surface will resolve the issue.
The USB port that your mouse is connected to might be malfunctioning. If this is the case, connecting your mouse to another USB port will resolve the issue.
