Instructions

    • 1

Pin the front and back of the item together with straight pins. This will make the piece of clothing more two-dimensional and keep it from sliding while you're working with it. It will also help the garment keep its shape in the frame. Shadowbox frames are deeper than traditional frames to allow for the thickness of your piece of clothing. Choose a frame that will fit the garment.

    • 2

Center your piece of clothing on your mat board. The board should match the dimensions of the frame. If your frame is 24 by 36 inches, your mat board should be the same size.

    • 3

Stick the piece of clothing to the mat board by placing double-sided sticky tape between the bottom layer of the clothing and the mat board. This will help keep the clothing centered while you put it in the frame.

    • 4

Set the mat board with your piece of clothing into the shadow box frame, keeping it as flat as possible while moving it. If desired, use double-sided sticky tape to adhere the mat board to the back wall of the shadow box frame. Slide the glass into the top of the frame.

    • 5

Look at the piece of clothing behind the glass to make sure it meets your expectations. If you need to make any changes, remove the glass and do so.
