How to Make a Satellite Finder
If you are having a satellite television installed, be aware that a technician may charge you by the hour for their time. One of the most time consuming tasks involved in installing satellite systems is locating the satellites that you will need to connect with to receive a signal. You can find satellites yourself by connecting the correct components to your system and avoid high installation costs.

1
Locate the LNB arm attached to your satellite dish and then find the cable adapter beneath it. Attach one end of a RG6 coaxial cable to the adapter and the other end to the satellite meter.
-
2
Locate the nuts on the back and sides of your satellite dish and loosen them so that the satellite can be adjusted and manipulated to help you locate a satellite.
-
-
3
Watch your satellite meter closely as you manipulate the dish to try to connect with a signal. Stop adjusting your dish when your meter reads the signal strength mandated by your satellite television provider.
-
4
Tighten the nuts that you loosened and lock your satellite dish into place. Disconnect the RG6 coaxial cable that you installed and remove the satellite meter from your system.
