      Divide the hair into a top and bottom section with your tail comb. Wind the top section of hair into a bun and clip it to the top of your head with a sectioning clip.

      Plug the Hot Tools BlueIce Titanium iron in at the wall and turn the power on. Turn the iron on at the handle and place the heat setting on "5" for average hair. If your hair is particularly thin, place the heat setting anywhere between "1" and "5." If your hair is thick, place the heat setting anywhere between "5" and "10."

      Comb the bottom section of the hair to remove any knots. Spray the bottom section of hair with a medium hold hair spray.

      Separate out a small section of hair 1 inch wide from the bottom section of hair at the front of your head.

      Press the lever on the curling iron to open the clamp. Place the end of the small section of hair underneath the clamp and release the lever to secure it in place. Maneuver the iron gently so it is on a vertical angle next to your head.

      Rotate the curling iron inward, toward your head, to coil the entire section of hair tightly onto the barrel of the curling iron. Hold the iron in place for 15 seconds.

      Press the lever on the curling iron to release the hair from the clamp. Pull the iron straight down to release the curl from its position around the barrel.
