How to Make a Craft Bow Tie

How to Make a Craft Bow Tie thumbnail
Young children should easily be able to fashion their own craft bow ties.

Making a craft bow tie out of poster board is an easy craft which can entertain children or make for a quick addition to a crafty outfit. A simple strip of tape can support a paper cut-out of a tie on a binder clip so that the tie can be placed at an individual's collar and worn much like a more traditional clip-on bow tie. This craft can be a good way to use up any spare poster board from other projects.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a bow-tie shape onto the colored poster board. They should be roughly as wide and long as an adult hand.

    • 2

Cut out around the shapes carefully with the scissors.

    • 3

Position one of the binder clips on the side of the bow tie which also features the tracing lines so that the clip opens facing down.

    • 4

Cut a small strip of duct tape, roughly 1/2 inch wide and 1 inch long.

    • 5

Place the duct tape along the metal tab of the binder clip, taping it to the poster board. This allows the tie to be placed on clothing by squeezing both metal tabs.

    • 6

Decorate the face of the bow tie, as desired.

Tips & Warnings
