Scratch Marks on Laminate Floors
Laminate flooring is commonly used because of its woodlike appearance, ease of cleaning and durability. Real wood is susceptible to water damage and laminate doesn't share that problem. Laminate lasts for years when it is properly cared for and it is resistant to cracking and scratching. However, that doesn't mean it can't be scratched at all. Regular foot traffic, heavy items being dragged and general wear and tear contribute to scratches in laminate over time. Removing the scratch marks helps to keep your laminate looking like new. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wipe at the scratches with a rag to remove any loose dust. Dust and dirt interferes with the repair process so the scratches need to be as clean as possible.
-
2
Spray the scratches with a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar to remove any additional dirt or stains from the scratched area. Dry the scratches with a rag.

-
3
Apply a wax pencil to the scratches to fill them in. The pencil should match the color of your laminate for best results and they are available from hardware stores and flooring companies. Once the scratches are filled in, keep everything off them for several minutes to give the wax a chance to set and dry in the scratches.
