How to Post Screenies Without PhotoBucket on "Neopets"

If you spend a great deal of time playing and developing your virtual pet on Neopets, you may want to capture a screenshot of your progress occasionally and share it with your friends. There are several free online image hosting services that allow you to upload an image from your computer and share it with a link. Create a screenshot using the built-in tools available in Windows and upload it to an image hosting service.

Instructions

Capturing a Screenshot

1. Open a Web browser and navigate to Neopets.com. Click the "Login to Neopets" link in the upper-right corner of the page, and then provide your username and password to log in to your account and begin playing the game.

2. Press the "Print Screen" key when you want to capture a screenshot. This takes a picture of everything displayed on the screen and sends it to the Windows clipboard.

3. Open the Start menu. Type "Paint" in the search field at the bottom, and click the "Paint" icon when it appears on the results list.

4. Click the "Paste" button in the upper-left corner of the Paint window to paste the Neopets screenshot from the clipboard.

5. Click the "Select" button on the top menu bar. Move the mouse pointer to the upper-left corner of the part of the screenshot displaying the actual game window. Click and hold the left mouse button, and drag the pointer to the bottom-right corner of the window. This draws a rectangle around the window.

6. Click the "Crop" button on the top menu bar. This removes the extraneous information from the screenshot, leaving only the game window.

7. Click the floppy disk button in the upper-left corner of the window, and navigate to the desktop in the "Save As" window.

8. Select "JPEG" in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the window.

9. Type a name such as "Neopets Screenie" in the "File Name" field, and then click the "Save" button to save the screenshot on your desktop.

Uploading the Screenshot

1. Return to your Web browser, and press the "Ctrl" and "T" keys simultaneously to open a new tab. Navigate to ImageShack.us, PostImage.org or TinyPic.com.

2. Click the "Browse" or "Choose File" button. Find the Neopets screenshot that you saved on your desktop, and double-click it.

3. Click the drop-down menu next to "Resize," and select the desired final size for the image. You can optimize the image for common monitor sizes or create a small image to use as a forum avatar. You can also keep the original image size.

4. Click the "Upload" button to send your Neopets screenshot to the image hosting service and displays a list of links that you can use for sharing the image on Neopets.com and other websites.

5. Copy one of the links or forum codes by highlighting it and pressing "Ctrl" and "C" simultaneously to save it to the Windows clipboard. Click inside the body of a message on Neopets or another website, and press "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously to paste the link.
