How to Do Your Hair for a Side Strap Dress
A side strap dress has only one strap on the dress, creating an asymmetrical look at the bustline. Hairstyles that complement a side strap dress are equally asymmetrical but focused on the side opposite the strap for balance. Pair a dramatic pair of long but simple earrings with this look as they will show on the strap side, keeping that side from looking too bare, but remaining hidden by the hair on the other side. Does this Spark an idea?

Low Ponytail
-
1
Spray hair all over with a heat protecting spray. Blow-dry hair using a round brush. Spray volume adding spray at the roots as you blow-dry.
-
2
Use a flat iron to straighten the hair below the roots if necessary. Lift the top layer of hair and use a comb to backcomb at the roots to add volume around the crown of the hair.

3
Sweep the length of the hair to one side. Fasten it into a low ponytail using a hair elastic. Create the ponytail just under one ear. Note that you shouldn't pull the hair too tightly into the ponytail or it will undo the volume at the crown.
-
4
Pull a 1-inch section of hair out of the elastic. Wrap the hair around the elastic to hide it. Pin into place behind the ponytail. Spray hair spray at the crown to hold the volume.
Side Updo
-
5
Allow naturally curly or wavy hair to air-dry, then continue with Step 2. Allow straight hair to air-dry until it's damp, then apply no-heat curlers. Remove the curlers once the hair is dry. Finger comb out the curls to make them more messy and natural looking.
-
6
Part hair on the side of the head opposite of where the bun will be. Note that this means that the part is on the same side as the strap on the dress. Pull bangs and face framing layers to the front of the face to keep them separated. Pull the rest of the hair into a low ponytail using a hair elastic.
-
7
Separate the ponytail into two sections. Wrap the first section around the base of the ponytail, working in a clockwise direction until the section has formed the start of a bun. Pin into place with bobby pins.
-
8
Wrap the other section of hair around the ponytail base, working in a counterclockwise direction. Pin into place. Allow the ends to stick out for a messier look or pin them in for a sleek style. Spray entire style with hair spray.
