How to Reset the IP Address for a LaserJet P2015

The HP LaserJet P2105 is a standard network printer. When connected to your network, the printer's IP address is assigned by the server or router. This makes editing the IP address of your laser printer a matter of accessing the networking or printer configurations through your PC. Resetting the IP address has two major steps: removing the printer from the network and adding the printer back to the network. When added to the network, the router gives the LaserJet P2015 a fresh IP address.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button, then hover the mouse over "Settings" and click "Printers." A window appears listing your installed printers.

    • 2

Right click on the icon that represents the LaserJet P2015 printer, then click "Run as administrator." Right click on the printer icon again, then click "Delete."

    • 3

Unplug the LaserJet P2015 Ethernet cable from the network router. Hold down the power button on the printer to turn it off. Wait 10 seconds, then plug the cable back into the router and press the power button to turn the laser printer back on. This process physically dissociates the printer from the network and formerly assigned IP address.

Click "Add a printer" from the "Control Panel" menu bar. Pick "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer" from the Wizard prompt, then click "Next." Windows scans the network for printers and returns a list that includes the LaserJet P2015.
