How to Get a Pouty Makeup Look

A fuller mouth is achieved with neutral tones, such as pink.

Many women desire the appearance of a full, pouty mouth; however, not all are born with naturally voluminous lips. Attempting to achieve this look can be a problem for those who want to maintain a natural appearance but fall for the common misconception that brighter lipsticks and liners will help. The look is actually achieved with a nude liner and properly placed gloss that highlights the attributes of the mouth while covering surface flaws. The result is a pale, pouty lip that is ideal for everyday wear.

Things You'll Need

• Neutral lip pencil or liner
• Pink liner (optional)
• Lip brush
• Lip gloss

Instructions

1. Line your top lip, using the neutral-colored pencil, where the color begins near the inside of your mouth. Follow around the outside of the upper lip, concentrating on the bow to make sure the shape is exactly like your natural line. Don't exaggerate the size; this is noticeable and will look fake.

2. Line the bottom lip in the same manner as you lined the top, but create a slightly thicker line at the center of the lip.

3. Fill in your lips with the natural pencil, concentrating on the center of the bottom lip. Alternatively, use a light shade of pink for a bolder look. Make sure to completely fill the lips while staying within the lines.

4. Fold a tissue in half and place it in between your lips to blot.

5. Refill the lips with the liner. This will help the color last longer.

6. Squeeze a small amount of clear or pink gloss onto a lip brush. Apply a small touch of gloss to the center of the bottom lip to complete the look.

• Use a magnifying mirror and examine your face after each step to make sure you are following the lines precisely. This will ensure a natural, balanced look.
