How to Bypass Skype Privacy Settings

How to Bypass Skype Privacy Settings thumbnail
Use the settings in Skype to manage your communications.

Skype has some privacy settings automatically enabled by default. The purpose of this is to protect you from unsolicited requests from other Skype users. However, the default privacy settings also prevent people from contacting you or knowing if you are online or not. This can hinder your friends and family from communicating with you. Bypass the privacy settings in Skype by accessing the Privacy Settings feature via the Options utility.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Skype, then sign into your account.

    • 2

Click "Tools" from the menu bar, then select "Options" from the drop-down list.

    • 3

Click the "Privacy" tab on the left side of the window. The Privacy Settings page for your account displays.

    • 4

Select the options that bypass the default privacy settings. For example, click the "Allow my Online Status to be Shown on the Web" check box to allow all Skype users to know when you are online or click the "Anyone" check box under "Allow Calls From" to allow any user to contact you. Click "Save" after choosing all the settings.
