How to Merge Libraries Using Aperture

Aperture is a professional photo management and editing suite provided by Apple, Inc. for the Mac OS X operating system. Aperture keeps original copies of your photos in a master file known as a library. If you have separate instances of Aperture on multiple computers or simply have an older library file, you can merge the two. The result is a single library file containing all original digital photos.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the Aperture application.

    • 2

Select “File,” then “Import,” then “Library/Project.” Locate the second Aperture Library file you wish to merge with the current library, click “Import.”

    • 3

Click “Merge” in the dialog box. A progress bar will appear, displaying the time remaining as Aperture merges the two libraries. The amount of time it takes will vary depending on the size of the libraries.
