DIY Silver Hand Stamping Set
Hand stamping can add value and charm to your silver jewelry, flatware and other decorative items. Before you begin stamping, it's important to understand the correct method. The margin for error when hand stamping silver is particularly thin, and even a single mistake can permanently ruin your piece. By following the correct process, you'll create a great quality custom-stamped piece each and every time.

1
Lay a flat steel plate on a sturdy table to serve as your working surface. The steel plate will provide a point of hard resistance, making your stamping easier and more successful.
-
2
Place your silver item on the steel plate.
-
-
3
Decide which stamps you will use. A variety of stamps are available at most craft stores, including letters, symbols, floral patterns, insignias and pictographic shapes.
-
4
Determine the orientation and placement of your stamps on the silver surface. Mark your desired location for each stamp using a black permanent marker.
-
5
Place a stamp onto the silver, aligning it with the corresponding mark. Hold the stamp firmly against the surface of the metal.
-
6
Tap the stamp with a hammer, to imprint your design onto the metal. While silver is a relatively soft metal, you will still need to tap quite hard to ensure that the stamp imprints properly.
