How to Decorate a Small Bedroom with a Large Window

When your bedroom is small, having a large window can actually be a major asset. The window can help make the room appear larger than it really is, as it lets in natural light and gives you a view of the outdoors. As you get started decorating your bedroom, make sure that you utilize your large window to its full advantage so that it makes you forget about the small size of the room when you enter it.

Instructions

1. Paint the bedroom with a light color. A dark color can make the room appear smaller than it is, but a light color allows it to appear more large and airy.

2. Use compact furniture inside the room. Even if you want a large bed, place it on a small frame. Choose a dresser and bedside tables with sleek lines so that you have plenty of storage, but the room isn't overwhelmed by large and ornate pieces of furniture.

3. Place linens on the bed that coordinate with the paint you've chosen for the walls. Choose a light color, or select a pattern with a pop of bold color that gives the room some visual interest.

4. Hang blinds on your large window. This provides privacy when you want it but allows plenty of light to stream in through the window.

5. Place light-colored curtains on the window. Curtains made with a light, breezy fabric both allow light in through the window and provide a view outside your window, making the room appear larger. Close the blinds when you want to block out light and prevent others from seeing inside.
