1
Paint the bedroom with a light color. A dark color can make the room appear smaller than it is, but a light color allows it to appear more large and airy.
-
2
Use compact furniture inside the room. Even if you want a large bed, place it on a small frame. Choose a dresser and bedside tables with sleek lines so that you have plenty of storage, but the room isn't overwhelmed by large and ornate pieces of furniture.

3
Place linens on the bed that coordinate with the paint you've chosen for the walls. Choose a light color, or select a pattern with a pop of bold color that gives the room some visual interest.
-
4
Hang blinds on your large window. This provides privacy when you want it but allows plenty of light to stream in through the window.
-
5
Place light-colored curtains on the window. Curtains made with a light, breezy fabric both allow light in through the window and provide a view outside your window, making the room appear larger. Close the blinds when you want to block out light and prevent others from seeing inside.
