Instructions

    • 1

Bend a white pipe cleaner into the shape of a heart. Twist the ends together to secure the shape. Make six hearts from white pipe cleaners.

    • 2

Bend a pink pipe cleaner into the shape of a small heart atop a long straight wand to give the impression of a heart-shaped arrow. Bend one end into a small heart and wrap it around the straight portion of the pipe cleaner. Repeat this step to make three additional pink and three red heart-shaped pipe cleaner arrows.

    • 3

Place a small dot of hot glue from a hot glue gun onto the right edge of one of the white pipe cleaner hearts. Place a second dot about 1/2-inch down from the small heart on one of the pink or red arrows. Press the glued areas together and hold for two minutes while the glue dries. Repeat for all six hearts until you have six hearts with heart shaped arrows going through them.

Create Cupid's bow out of two red pipe cleaners. Keep one straight and bend the other into a arching half circle. Twist the top and bottom of the bent pipe cleaner around the straight one to secure them together. Use your hot glue gun to glue the remaining pink arrow to the bow across its center.

    • 5

Cut an 8 to 10-inch long piece of fishing wire for each heart and one for Cupid's bow. Tie six pieces of wire onto the tops of the white hearts and the seventh onto the top of Cupid's bow. Gather the loose ends of the fishing wire strands into one bundle. Wrap clear tape around the top 2 inches of the wires to secure them together. For added visual interest, have Cupid's bow attached to a slightly longer piece of wire so it hangs an inch lower than the hearts. Put the bow in the middle and bend the wires with the hearts to form a circle around the bow, if desired.

Staple the wire bundle to the ceiling or secure it with a piece of duct tape or white-colored electrical tape. Tape the Cupid mobile above the baby’s crib for a week around Valentine’s Day for a special decoration for the baby to look at and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take a photo of the mobile so you can share it with the baby when he grows up and is old enough to appreciate it.
