How to Change the Port Speed on a Linksys E2000

The Linksys E2000 wireless router has the ability to prioritize traffic on specific TCP and UDP ports, changing the bandwidth available for those ports automatically as needed. You can determine the port number that a particular program uses when connecting to the Internet and configure the E2000 to adjust the speed of that port number to prevent downloads from slowing the program down.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the configuration utility of the Linksys E2000. Open a Web browser and type "192.168.1.1" into the address bar. Press Enter. The Linksys E2000 displays a log-in prompt. Type "admin" in both the "Username" and "Password" fields, unless you selected a different password when setting the router up. Press Enter to display the main menu.
