How to Lubricate a Clutch on a Ski Doo

The Ski-Doo is a snowmobile, manufactured by the BRP company, and designed to travel and operate on snow or ice where no trail or road is available. It has skis placed at the front for control, and can accommodate one or two passengers, similar to an all-terrain vehicle. After consistent use, your Ski-Doo's clutches may accumulate grime and dirt that can cause the engine to run more slowly and create a popping noise. Cleaning the clutches, as well as lubricating them, can ensure a smoother ride.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift the hood of the Ski-Doo and remove the clutch cover, then the drive belt. Use an air compressor to blow any excess dirt, dust and debris from the clutches.

    • 2

Spray the clutches with brake cleaner, then spray with the air compressor to get rid of the dirt. Repeat these steps until the clutches are dirt- and grease-free.

    • 3

Wipe the clutches clean with a dry cloth. Cleaning the clutches ensures the lubrication stays on longer and is more effective.

    • 4

Spray the clutch and the clutch units with dry lubricator spray. Coat them evenly. Do not use any oil or grease, as this can damage other parts or cause them not to work properly. Replace the belt onto the Ski-Doo, close the clutch cover, and replace the hood to its original position.
