Natural Way to Keep Pigeons Off the Roof
Pigeons are a nuisance to homeowners and businesses whenever they are present in large numbers. The birds carry fleas and various diseases and will land on any surface on which they can stand comfortably, like roofs. Pigeons also leave evidence of their bathroom function when they depart, which creates work for building occupants. Manufacturers offer a variety of chemical repellents for pests, but most of these products are harmful to the birds. Place wire netting, such as chicken wire, around your roof to discourage pigeons from landing. Place the netting on attic windows also, to eliminate all possible perching spots.

Scare pigeons away with an owl scarecrow. Place the owl at a strategic point on the roof to discourage bird intruders. Some owl scarecrows with motion detectors may more effective.

Place plastic or metal spikes on the areas of the roof where pigeons may easily land, such as the edges and the pitch of the roof. You can attach some spike kits to the roof with adhesive.

Install a sound repellent. These products keep birds away with ultrasonic sound waves that are below the level of sound that humans can hear. Some sound repellent products contain motion detectors so that they only activate when a pigeon, or other pest, arrives.
