How to Clean Alligator Bags
The skin from an alligator can be used as a leather product after treatment and tanning. Alligator skin is considered exotic. Due to the varying size of the reptile, it can be made into a variety of products such as bags, shoes and even furniture. An alligator bag is expensive so it’s important that you properly clean it to preserve its quality and avoid damaging the alligator skin during cleaning. Does this Spark an idea?

Prepare the alligator bag for cleaning by emptying all of its contents. Select a table that is very smooth so the bag will not be scratched during the cleaning procedure.

Fill a small bowl with clean, warm water. Do not mix in any soap or detergent as soaps and chemicals can harm the treated and thin surface of the alligator bag.

Moisten a soft rag. Gently wipe the entire surface of the alligator bag. If there are any areas inside of the bag that have alligator leather, wipe those areas as well.

Wipe away any surplus water with a soft, absorbent towel. If you don’t have a very soft towel, put the bag in front of a small fan. Turn the bag several times until it is completely dry.

Apply a leather conditioner to a soft cloth. Purchase only a leather conditioner that is suitable for alligator or reptile skin items.

Apply the leather conditioner to the bag very gently, using the soft cloth. Rub the conditioner on all parts of the alligator leather.

Store the bag in a cool, dry place.

Never put the bag in a folded position.
Keep it out of direct sunlight.
