How to Make a Lot of Squares With a Brush in Illustrator
Drawing a lot of square boxes using Adobe Illustrator’s shape tool can be time-consuming, especially if you want to create identical squares. Fortunately, you don’t have to fiddle around with the shape tool when you have the option to create your own custom brushes. Creating a square-shaped brush in Illustrator is very simple, even for an Illustrator novice, and it will help you create multiple squares on your page in a short amount of time.

Open a new or existing Illustrator document and draw a square shape using the “Shape” tool.

Select the shape using the “Direct Selection” tool and then click on the small arrow located in the top right-hand corner of your brush palette.

Select “New Brush…” from the top of the drop-down menu list. This will open a new window. Make sure the “New Art Brush” option is selected and then choose “OK” to define the square brush.

Enter in your brush’s name and make any other changes in the Art Brush Option window. Click “OK” to finalize your changes and finish your square brush.

Select your brush from the brush palette and then use it by clicking with your mouse anywhere you want a square to appear.
