Incorporate a strong symbol of the Christian faith into your wedding.

The shepherd's crook has been a long-standing symbol of Christianity, as Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd. Therefore, it is no surprise that couples want to incorporate this tradition into their church weddings. However, attaching a crook to the side of a pew can seem a tricky task, particularly if the sides of the pew do not offer a tall platform to which you can tie the crook. In these instances, a residue-free solution is to use a pew clip.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the pew clips over the tops of the church's pews. Ensure that they sit in the middle of the pew side along the aisle for a symmetrical appearance. These plastic or metal clips are slightly adjustable, allowing them to fit over the tops of most standard-sized pews. Pew clips are available at craft stores and wedding suppliers.

Wrap a 6-inch strand of wire around the shepherd's crook. Ensure that it is not too tight, as the pew clip's hook should fit in between the wire and the crook. Twist the loose ends together and fold them behind the crook. Cut away the excess wire if any remains.

    • 3

Stand the shepherd's crook next to the pew clip and place the wire over the clip's hook. Ensure that the arrangement is balanced and adjust as necessary.

    • 4

Slip a ribbon through the pew clip and tie it over the wire that holds the crook to it. This gives the crook a decorative finish while covering the wire. As an alternative, you can tie the bow with tulle for a bridal-inspired finish.
