Test the lotion on your skin to see if it's shiny enough.

Making your own shimmery body lotion offers you an advantage over buying it in a store. You can customize your favorite brand of lotion to suit your beauty needs with whatever color shimmering agent you prefer. If it's winter, for example, and you've switched to a thicker moisturizer for everyday use, liven it up with a shimmer powder that has a subtle tone. Or you can make a lotion with a sexy fragrance even more enticing by adding a bright gold or pink powder to it for evening wear. It's also helpful to have a supply on hand for refreshing a spray tan once it starts to fade. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings

  • If the lotion isn't shiny enough for you, add another tablespoon of shimmery powder to the lotion and shake it for another 60 seconds.

  • You may also use gold or silver mica pigment for shimmer powder. This type of pigment is found in mineral makeup.

  • Make your special lotion last longer by only applying it to the parts of your body that are exposed.

  • Don't add too much powder to the lotion — your skin will look too glittery and artificial.
