How to Keep a Laptop From Being Traced

Your laptop activity can be traced using the IP address assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider, or ISP. Activity tracked includes websites visited, emails opened and files downloaded. To keep your laptop from being traced, use a free Web proxy server. A Web proxy site allows you to visit websites, check Web-based email and download files anonymously without being tracked.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser and navigate to a Proxy server. Anonymous Web proxies include proxy.org, profixy.us and fastproxynetwork.com.

2. Type the desired URL in the address field located in the center of the Web proxy.

3. Press “Enter.” The desired website launches within the proxy website.
