For the Photographer
-
1
Photograph the mother from the front as much as possible. You can turn her a little, but if she turns too much her belly could create a silhouette, drawing the viewer's focus to the area.
-
2
Use flat lighting. This is lighting that is low in contrast, thus creating less shadow. The fat areas of a pregnant woman's body, in particular the chin, can create shadow in the photograph. Reducing the contrast will minimize that shadow.

3
Use others to block the view of the belly. For example, a small child, perhaps a page boy, can stand in front of the mother-to-be. If the mother-to-be is tall and is not the bride, she can stand at the back in a group shot. Another good method is to photograph the mother-to-be standing at an angle with another person standing slightly in front, covering the protruding belly.

Wear a veil. A veil can hide any fatty areas that could cause shadow and bring attention to your pregnancy.

5
Buy a dress that hides your condition. This could be an A-line dress or a dress with an empire waist. An A-line dress lengthens the body, drawing attention away from your waistline. An empire waist is narrowest just below the breast, thus hiding the hips and waist areas.

6
Show off areas of the body that have not been affected by your pregnancy, such as your shoulders or your arms. If you hide your body too much, people may draw their own conclusions.
