1
Snip a length of streamer paper measuring 60 inches. Do this again with a length of streamer in a contrasting color. Fairytale colors vary, but whimsical tones of white, pink and blue are ideal for children to be stimulated.
-
2
Layer each length of streamer paper over one another, and tape one of the ends together. Twist the length of layered paper and then tape the other end. This creates a sort of chain of colored paper. Tape it along the tops of the walls, near the ceiling, of the classroom. You may need more than one, 60-inch segment to pull this off.

3
Arrange a few pieces of wall art around the room that suit the fairytale theme you're using. For instance, large posters of castles with unicorns and other mythical imagery is suitable. You can also have the children color their own fairy tale assignments for hanging on the walls.

4
Spread a large, plush and colorful rug in one corner of the room where you intend on conducting story time. A thick shag rug in colors matching the decorative streamers is ideal and serves as a comfortable place for the kids to sit and listen to stories.
-
5
Select an assortment of toys such as stuffed unicorns and characters from fairytales, such as the "Three Little Bears" and "Goldilocks," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and many others. Arrange these toy items in a treasure toy chest that can sit near your story time area. The children will enjoy playing with the toys during free time, or they can be used to accent the theme of the stories you tell.
