How to Make a Friendship Bracelet Out of String With a Weave Wheel

Making a friendship bracelet for a companion is a sweet incentive, and a weave wheel can be tons of fun with which to work. Once you get a hang of the weaving process, you will be able to finish each weave much faster than it took you to weave the first strings. A weave wheel will assist you in decreasing the possibility that the strings will become tangled and the pattern will get lost.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut 20-inch lengths of string for each notch on the wheel. Look at the pattern on the wheel if it has one. Cut enough of each color indicated on the wheel. Some wheels come with color combinations to indicate where to put each string color. This provides a guideline of where to alternate each color and you can replace the colors indicated on the wheel with new ones.

    • 2

Line the strings up, and then tie them in a knot at one end. Divide the strings in half lengthwise and then put a pencil at the base of the knot.

    • 3

Tie all the strings together close to the pencil so it is secure. Remove the pencil. You now have a loop at the end of the bracelet.

    • 4

Put the knot through the center of the wheel. Pull out a single string and place it in its corresponding color on the wheel's notch.

    • 5

Place the rest of the strings on the corresponding-colored notch until all the strings are placed. Move each string to the notch beside the notch that is directly on the opposite side of the notch that from which you pulled the strings.

    • 6

Move the string to the left of the notch you just inserted the string into, and place it beside its opposite notch. Turn the wheel counterclockwise one place and then repeat. Continue until your bracelet is long enough.

    • 7

Untangle the loose strings behind the wheel as you go. Comb them with your fingers.

    • 8

Unhook the strings from their notches. Tie the loose strings into a double knot at the end of the woven bracelet ,and trim excess strings on each side.

    • 9

Pass the knot through the loop. Give the bracelet to a friend.
