Instructions

1
Cut a 3/4-inch-thick sheet of marine plywood to the overall desired size of the wall fountain. Drill a 1/2-inch diameter hole through the center of the cut plywood.
-
2
Cut a 2-by-2-inch wood furring strip into four 2-inch sections. Attach one 2-inch-long wood strip to each corner of the plywood with a 21/2-inch-long decking screw. The corner wood sections keep the rock wall fountain from resting flush against the wall.

-
3
Apply waterproof paint or exterior polyurethane to the side of the plywood with the wood strips, the exterior edges and the inside of the drilled hole. Allow the finish to dry in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
-
4
Lay the plywood on a flat surface so that the side without wood strips is lying face up. Glue polished river rocks to the face-up side of the plywood with waterproof construction adhesive. Cover the plywood; do not cover the hole. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to dry.
-
5
Cut a 3- to 5-foot section of flexible plastic tubing, long enough to run from the drilled hole on the wall fountain to the ground. Duct tape one end of the plastic tube to the side of the plywood without rocks so that the end fits through the drilled hole.
-
6
Attach a wall hanger to the wood furring strips in the two top corners of the plywood. Find the wall studs on the wall where the fountain will hang. Attach the wall section of the hangers to at least one wall stud. The wall section of the hangers should correspond with the hangers on the furring strips. Hang the rock board.
-
7
Place a decorative planter beneath the wall fountain. The planter should have no drainage openings. Place a waterfall fountain pump inside the planter. Attach the end of the plastic tube hanging beneath the rock wall to the spout on the waterfall fountain pump. Tape the plastic tube to the spout with duct tape for a tight fit.
-
8
Fill the planter with water up to within 2 inches of the rim. The waterfall pump should be covered with water. Plug in the pump. The tube carries water from the planter to the hole in the wall fountain, where it falls back inside the planter. Move the planter as needed to catch the water.
