Instructions

    • 1

Peel the skin off of two cloves of garlic. Make a small, shallow slit in the garlic bulb. Pull up the skin and peel off. Discard the skins. You want the actual garlic bulb and not the outer layer.

    • 2

Place both cloves of garlic in a food processor. Pulse the processor a few times or until the garlic cloves are finely chopped. If you do not have a food processor, finely chop the cloves with a sharp knife.

    • 3

Remove the garlic from the food processor. Scrape the garlic and garlic juice into a small bowl. Scoop up the garlic with your fingers and massage it into the scalp. Use small, circular motions as you massage. Performing a gentle massage on your scalp helps stimulate hair growth.

    • 4

Leave the garlic on your scalp for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, massage 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the scalp. Do not wash out the garlic. Place a shower cap over your head and leave on for at least six hours.

    • 5

Wash the treatment out of your hair after the allotted time. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner.

Tips & Warnings

  • Garlic treatments are gentle enough for everyday use. Always use fresh garlic bulbs. Do not use dried garlic or garlic powder. You can also use raw onions in place of garlic. Onions are often used as a hair loss treatment, as well. Place more garlic on thinner areas of the scalp. Focus on more massage in that area as well.

  • Keep garlic from getting in your eyes during the treatment. If you get garlic in your eyes, flush the eyes immediately with water. Stop using garlic if you break out in a rash or have any allergic reactions. Before applying the garlic to your scalp, rub garlic juice on a small patch of skin on the arm. Wait 24 hours before applying the mixture to your scalp.
