How to Edit Suggestions on YouTube

When watching a video on YouTube, you will notice that the right side of the page has a list of video suggestions. This list is based on your video's title and keywords. While you can't edit the suggestion list directly, you can alter it by changing your video's category tags. This fix only works with videos you have uploaded yourself. You cannot change the suggestions derived from other users' videos.

Instructions

    • 1

Expand the "My Account" menu beneath your user name in the top-right corner of the YouTube homepage. Click "Videos" to load a list of your uploaded videos.

    • 2

Click the "Edit Info" button beneath a video. This will load the "Info and Settings" menu for your video.

    • 3

Find the "Tags" field within the "Video Information" section. Type in new keywords for your video. The more specific and descriptive, the better. For example, if you have tagged your windsurfing video with "ocean," your suggestion list may contain videos that are related to the ocean, but not to windsurfing. Tags like "windsurfing" and "water sports" would give you more relevant suggestions. When you have finished, click the "Save Changes" button at the top of the left sidebar.

Tips & Warnings

  • The keyword changes may not affect the suggestion list instantly. You may need to wait anywhere from several minutes to an hour before seeing any changes.
