How to Make a Zipper Corsage
A zipper corsage consists of flowers made from zipper halves. The pieces of zipper are rolled and twisted to form a rosette. Wear your zipper corsage pinned to the shoulder of a dress or blouse reminiscent of a traditional corsage. You can also attach these corsage pins to hats, purses, scarves and jackets to add embellishment. Hand make your own zipper corsage to create a personalized accessory for any outfit. Give away your zipper corsages as gifts.

1
Lay two separating metal zippers, 18 inches long on a flat work surface. Unzip each zipper and separate the halves. Cut the plastic hardened ends off of each zipper piece with a pair of scissors. Slide the two zipper heads off their respective pieces and discard.
-
2
Thread a sewing needle with thread that matches the color of the fabric on the zipper. Pull the ends of the thread so that they are even and tie them together into a knot.
-
-
3
Choose one of the zipper halves. Begin rolling the zipper at one of the shorter ends. After two or three rolls, stop rolling. Insert the needle through the fabric bottom of the rolls, opposite the zippered edge. Pull the needle and thread through the fabric layers until the knot catches. Sew a few straight stitches through the layers to secure the rolls.
-
4
Continue to roll the zipper. Stop every two to three rolls. Sew a few stitches through the bottom of the rolls to secure them in place.
-
5
After six to nine rolls, begin adding folds to the zipper flower. Bend the loose portion of zipper back on itself and roll the zipper in the opposite direction a short distance. Fold the zipper back on itself again and continue rolling in the original direction. Sew a few stitches in the bottom of the fold to secure it.
-
6
Fold the end of the zipper down to the bottom of the flower once reached. Sew the end to the previous layers rolled layers of zipper. Tie a knot in the thread and cut.
-
7
Select the second zipper. Place its starting end, zipper edge up, at the bottom of the flower where the first zipper half ended. Thread the sewing needle with a new piece of thread and tie a knot in the end. Sew the beginning end of the zipper in place.
-
8
Continue to roll the new zipper around the flower in the same manner. Add each new zipper in this same manner until the flower has reached the desired size. Fold the zippers end down to the flower's bottom and sew in place as before. Cut any excess length of zipper off with your scissors.
-
9
Cut a circle from a piece of felt with your scissors. Place a large drop of hot glue on top of the felt. Press the bottom of the zipper flower onto the hot glue on the felt. Press down on the flower until the glue dries.
-
10
Apply a line of hot glue to the flat side of a brooch pin. Press the pin to the center of the felt backing. Hold the pin in place until the glue dries.
