How to Make a Finger Puppet Fish
Finger puppets can provide hours of fun for children as cast members in mini productions. They are also fun projects to create with your child as they provide an opportunity to encourage your child’s imagination. The supplies for a fish puppet are few and you can use items you may already have at home. Make your finger puppet fish as simple or as complex as you wish.

1
Fold a sheet of felt fabric in half and place it on a flat surface. Place a finger on the fabric and trace a light outline with chalk. Leave a one-quarter-inch allowance on each side of your finger for wiggle room. Take your finger off of the fabric. Draw a short line across the bottom of the outline so it resembles a tube.

2
Draw the outline of a fish around the tube with a permanent marker. Add distinctive fish features to the drawing, such as the mouth, gills and fins. Make the top, rounded part of the tube as the head of the fish.

3
Cut the fish outline out of the felt fabric with scissors, creating two pieces. Sew the two pieces together along the finger outline. Use a thread and needle or a sewing machine.
-
4
Decorate both sides of the fish finger puppet as you wish. For instance, glue a googly eye on each side. Glue or sew some sequins to the body for scales.

Tips & Warnings
If you wish to simplify the project for a child, skip the sewing and just glue the area around the area for the finger.
