How to Do a Bohemian-Style French Braid Headband
Celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie and Lauren Conrad have sported French braid headbands. With this hairstyle, you French braid a small portion of hair around your face, leaving the rest of your hair loose. Bohemian-chic versions of this hairstyle emphasize its relaxed, casual nature. There’s no need to worry about perfection. Use uneven chunks of hair for the braids, and braid your hair loosely. If you have curly or layered hair, you don’t need to force it into a sleek, smooth French braid. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Use your brush to separate a section of your hair from ear to ear. If you want to have a thick headband, make a wide section. If you want a thin headband, make a thin section.
-
2
Make a ponytail with the rest of your hair. This will keep it out of the way, making the headband easier to braid.
-
-
3
Grasp a chunk of hair near your left ear and divide it into three sections.
-
4
Pass the front section over the middle section. Add some of the loose hair near your face to the new front section.
-
5
Pass the back section over the middle section. Add some of the loose hair closer to the back of your head to the new back section. Continue French braiding your headband until you reach your right ear.
-
6
Secure the end of the French braid with a hair elastic. Use a bobby pin to hold the end of the headband securely behind the ear.
-
7
Remove the hair elastic that was holding most of your hair in a ponytail. Style your loose hair as usual. Soft, flowing curls work well with this hairstyle.

Tips & Warnings
Add accessories that fit your personality. For a soft, romantic touch, use a barrette covered in lace to hold the end of the headband. For a more dramatic look, thread a brightly colored flower through your headband.
