How to Make a Tron Helmet
Tron, a movie released in 1982, concerns a computer programmer who gets sucked in and trapped into one of his programs. The computer programmer had to compete in several different games inside the program to be set free. The costumes worn by the characters in Tron are very iconic and featured a “glowing” effect. You can create your own Tron helmet to wear for a costume or to a Tron-themed party. This specific helmet is a replica of the one worn by the main character of Tron, Alan Bradley.
Things You'll Need
- Computer with color printer
- 8.5-by-11-inch white cardstock paper, nine sheets
- Ruler
- Mechanical pencil
- Scissors
- X-Acto knife
- Glue
Instructions
-
-
1
Download the Tron helmet pattern from the link in the Resources section.
-
2
Print out all the sheets of the pattern in color. Cut out all the pieces with scissors or an X-Acto knife.
-
-
3
Use a ruler and a mechanical pencil with no lead in it to lightly trace the dashed and dash-dotted lines on each piece of the pattern. This will help make the folds for the next step more precise.
-
4
Make “mountain” folds along all dashed lines (with the fold pointed up) and “valley” folds along all dash-dotted lines (with the fold pointed down).
-
5
Match up the numbers on the different pieces of the pattern to assemble the helmet.
-
6
Use a small amount of glue to secure the helmet pieces together. Allow glue to dry before wearing.
