How to Make a Gray Background in Aperture on a Mac
When you're viewing and organizing your photos with Aperture on your Mac, you can change the background color behind the photo viewer and the photo browser to gray. The background color of the Aperture application’s photo viewer window and the photo browser window can range from white to black. You just need to adjust the preferences settings for the windows to have gray backgrounds to help you better view the colors in your photos.

Click “Applications” on the dock of your Mac, and then click “Aperture” to launch the application.

Click “Aperture” from the Aperture menu, and then click “Preferences.”

Click the “Appearances” tab.

Drag the “Viewer Brightness” slider to the middle so that its setting is about 50 percent and the photo viewer background appears gray.

Drag the “Browser Brightness” slider to the middle so that its setting is about 50 percent and the photo browser window background appears gray.
