1
Comb back any hair that you do not want to cut and hold it back with a clip. This will help you avoid cutting hair that is not part of the bangs.
-
2
Divide the bangs into two separate sections. Insert the long end of a comb horizontally into the bang area. Pull the top layer back and pin. The remaining layer should be thin enough to see through to her forehead. You will cut the bottom layer of the bangs first and then release the top layer and cut. If she has extremely thick hair, you may need to create three sections.

3
Comb the bangs down with your dominant hand. With your other hand, clamp your index and middle fingers around the hair, like a pair of scissors, and slide the fingers to the tips of the hair. This will help you determine how much hair to cut.

4
Cut the bang hair using trimming scissors with your dominant hand. Repeat the process of combing the hair down and cutting until the entire first layer is complete.
-
5
Release the second layer. Comb through both layers to combine them. Repeat the process as in steps 3 and 4 to cut the second layer. Using the first layer as a guide, cut the second layer to match the length.

Tips & Warnings
Cut the sides of the bangs at angles for a face-framing style or leave them blunt.
Wet the hair slightly with a spray bottle prior to trimming. Remember, hair is longer when it is wet and will shrink or shorten when dry.
