Natural Cleaner Recipe for Shower Walls

Natural cleaner recipes are best mixed fresh for each use, because they might lose viability with storage. This is rarely a problem because they are made from common ingredients. Instructions

    • 1

Combine one-quarter cup white vinegar with 1 cup baking soda to create a paste. Use the paste as you would scouring powder to scrub grime and soap scum from shower tile, tubs and grout.

    • 2

Stir one-third cup each of baking soda and borax together, then add 1 teaspoon of a liquid vegetable-based soap, such as Castile, to the mixture to form a paste. Use the paste to scrub shower surrounds and tile instead of the vinegar and baking soda paste.

    • 3

Mix 1 cup vinegar with 2 cups water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle. Clean glass and acrylic shower doors and chrome faucets and handles with the mixture. The vinegar cuts through soap scum and mineral deposits.

    • 4

Use equal parts white vinegar and water in the spray bottle for mold and mildew. Spray the mildewed area in the shower with the solution, and allow it to soak in for five to 10 minutes before wiping clean.

    • 5

Sprinkle straight baking soda on the tub and tile walls, especially around the drain and the dirt ring that sometimes forms. Use the baking soda as a scouring powder to remove the grime.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remove and soak shower heads in pure vinegar to remove heavy lime scale and mineral deposits.
