How to Construct a Homemade Shoe Holder
Shoes can be difficult to keep in order, especially if you have many pairs or are in a family environment. A shoe rack offers a solution to this, which can hold multiple pairs of shoes and keep them arranged in a small space on different levels. You can make a shoe rack using pieces of wood. When completed, you'll have a stylish design that you can place in a room to store multiple pairs of shoes.

1
Determine how many pairs of shoes will need to go on the rack. Each pair of shoes will need about 6 inches for height, 8 inches for width and 12 inches for depth. Decide how many layers you will have and how long you want the rack shelves to be. Note the measurements down on a piece of paper. Also, calculate how long the wood pillars have to be. This is 6-inches x the number of layers + the thickness of the planks of wood.

2
Mark the lengths on planks of plywood. Saw through the marks with a hand saw to create the shelves and pillars in your decided dimensions. Determine if all the end angles are 90 degrees using a set square.

3
Saw smaller square pieces of plywood, each as long as the width of the pillar pieces, to make the shelf brackets.

4
Mark the shelf positions on the pillar planks. Arrange the base plank at 90 degrees to the end of one pillar plank. Clamp them together. Hammer two nails through the pillar plank into the end of the base plank. Repeat the process on the other side. Do the same for the top plank of the design.
-
5
Arrange a bracket in place over the mark on the side of the pillar plank. Clamp them together. Hammer two nails through the pillar plank into the bracket. Attach all the shelf brackets in this way.

6
Stand the rack up. Lay the shelves for the rack on the brackets. Arrange the shoes in the rack. If a set of shoes is too big, then you can remove the shelf above to allow more space.
