How to Determine Font in Illustrator From an Outline

You can usually determine the font type, style and size in Adobe Illustrator using an outline of the document. If the document font is the same font used in the outline, opening the outline in Adobe Illustrator and checking the “Character Styles” property reveals the font properties used in the outline. View the “Basic Character Format” option to discover the font family used in the file.

Instructions

1. Open the outline in Adobe Illustrator.

2. Click the “Window” option on the top navigation bar, then click “Type.”

3. Click the “Character Styles” option. The Character Styles dialog box opens.

4. View the “Normal Character Style” options in the Character Styles box to see the font style and size.

5. View the “Basic Character Format” box to check the font family used in the document.
