How to Childproof My Refrigerator
Babies and toddlers are constantly exploring their world, but unfortunately that world includes a number of dangers, many of which are found in the home. Childproofing your kitchen, including the refrigerator, is a vital part of being a parent or grandparent. Stand in front of the refrigerator and determine the best height for the childproof lock. You want the lock to be at a convenient height for you and too high for the child to reach.

Attach the latch side of the refrigerator lock to the door of the refrigerator. Some refrigerator locks are magnetic, while others attach with adhesive. If you use the adhesive type, be sure to press firmly and make sure that it does not come loose.

Move to the side of the refrigerator and install the hook part of the door lock. Press firmly if you are using an adhesive-style lock.

Close the latch over the hook to lock the refrigerator door. If you have a side-by-side refrigerator, you will need to install a separate lock on each door.
