A wireless router broadcasts the Internet via a wireless network.

Internet connection bandwidth is the speed that data transmits through a wireless router. It determines how fast your computer can upload and download information via the wireless network. If the Internet is slow on your computer, check the speed of the Internet connection to see if the problem is the connection or another factor. Find the connection speed by accessing the Wireless Network Connection Status utility in Windows.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and select "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click "Network and Internet," then select "Network and Sharing Center."

    • 3

Click "Change Adapter Settings" in the column on the left side of the window.

    • 4

Double-click on the name of the wireless network that your computer is connected to. The Wireless Network Connection Status window opens. The speed through the wireless router is listed in the Connection section of the window, to the right of "Speed."
