1
Sketch out a design that you want to applique on paper. Stick with curves and straight lines until you get the hang of appliqueing. This design will be your paper template.
-
2
Iron the stabilizer to the fabric that you want to embellish by following the manufacturer’s instruction. The stabilizer should be just a bit larger than the design you are going to applique.
-
-
3
Apply a bit of adhesive spray onto the paper template. Press the paper template to the back of the stabilized fabric. Carefully cut around the shape of the template and throw away the paper.
-
4
Remove the backing from the stabilizer. Iron the applique in the position that you desire on the fabric that you want to embellish. Embroider the lines in the design with a satin stitch, blanket stitch or other decorative stitches available on your sewing machine.
