How to Paint Fall Pumpkins & Leaves
When leaves change colors, you begin to notice the beginning of fall. Orange pumpkins and red or yellow leaves are often considered the colors of the season. For people looking to create a fall themed painting, those items will surely be part of the finished piece, if not the focal point. Creating fall leaves and pumpkins can be easy and fun while also allowing you to explore your creativity.
Things You'll Need
- Paper or canvas
- Pencil
- Craft paint brushes in several different sizes
- Orange paint
- Red paint
- Yellow paint
- Green paint
- Brown paint
- Black paint

Place your paper or canvas on a flat surface, such as a table. You will want a good light source in the area where you are working.

Sketch out the basics of your painting, including the location of your leaves and pumpkins.

Draw a basic circle in the location where you want your pumpkin. You can make each pumpkin a different size or they can all be the same size.

Draw a rectangle on top of each pumpkin for the stem. The stems should be located at the center of the top of each circle.

Draw leave shapes in the area where you want your fall leaves. Leaves come in a variety of shapes, but the easiest are either round, oval or have three pointed sections.

Paint the pumpkins using craft paint brushes and orange paint. Allow the paint to dry.

Paint the leaves using red and yellow paint. Allow the paint to dry.

Paint the stems of the pumpkins using brown paint. Allow the paint to dry.

Add details to the pumpkins and leaves using black paint and a small craft paint brush. On the pumpkin, paint circular lines from the top to the bottom to mimic the different sections on the pumpkin. You can also add the veins on the leaves, if you desire.
