How to Document Speaking Engagements on a Curriculum Vitae
Speaking engagements are a great credential to include on a resume or curriculum vitae (CV). A speaking engagement not only demonstrates your reputation as an expert in a particular field, but also demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively, particularly in front of large groups. Including a speaking engagement on a curriculum vitae is relatively simple and can give you a leg up when applying for jobs.

1
Create a section on your curriculum vitae where you will list your speaking engagements. If you have numerous speaking engagements, a heading specifically titled "Speaking Engagements" should work fine. However, if you don't feel as though you have enough speaking engagements to justify a separate heading, consider putting in a heading that says something like "Additional Qualifications" or "Other Credentials" and list your speaking engagements along with other miscellaneous accolades. Generally, if you have more than one or two speaking engagements, you can probably justify a separate section on your curriculum vitae just for these.

2
List the specific information of the engagement. Under the appropriate heading, list the title of the speaking engagement, the name of the organization responsible for the event and the date of the event. Make sure to keep the same format for each speaking engagement you list, and put the engagements in chronological order, either from first to last or last to first, depending on the format of the rest of your curriculum vitae.

3
Detail some specifics about your role in the speaking engagement. If there was a title of your presentation, include that. Also, consider including the key points of your speech and the amount of time you spoke for. Depending on the organization you are presenting your curriculum vitae to, consider tailoring the key points you include to the position for which you are applying.
