Things You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • Scrub brush
  • Baking soda

Instructions

  1. Warm Vinegar

      Warm white vinegar slightly in a saucepan on the stove or in a bowl in the microwave. Do not boil.

      Pour the warm white vinegar into a spray bottle. Do not dilute.

      Spray the warm vinegar onto the surface affected by soap scum and allow to sit for several minutes.

      Scrub the area with a soft scrub brush.

      Rinse the area well with water.

    Baking Soda

      Place approximately a cup of baking soda in a bowl, and gently shake to loosen any clumps.

      Add water slowly to the baking soda and stir, adding water gradually until the baking soda becomes a paste.

      Dip a soft scrub brush into the baking soda paste, and apply to the soap scum. Gently scrub away the soap scum.

      Rinse the area well with water.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rinse drains with baking soda and vinegar on a regular basis to prevent soap scum buildup.

  • White vinegar, while nontoxic, may smell strong. Provide ventilation while using.
