1
Lay your knives next to each other on a table, blades up, with the handles facing you. There should be a half-inch between each handle.
-
2
Measure the space that your knife blades take up.
-
-
3
Cut a rectangular piece of corrugated cardboard to match your measurements. This will form the base of the knife holder.
-
4
Cover the surface of the cardboard with a single layer of wine corks, laid side by side in rows. Hot glue them in place. The orientation of the corks is unimportant, but there should be no space between them.
-
5
Cut one slit for each knife in the holder's surface carefully with a razor blade. The slits should go three-quarters of the way through the cork layer.
-
6
Insert the blade of a knife into each slit. The holder with its knives can be stored flat in a drawer or on a counter top.
