Cubes can be used for a variety of purposes.

Crocheting three dimensional pieces can spice up your craft, and if you have a child in your life, the pieces you create can become cherished toys as well. Cubes in crochet can be used for a variety of purposes: soft alphabet blocks for babies, large-scale soft dice for game play (or to hang from your rear view mirror), small cubes of faux cheese for a soft sculpture hors d'oeuvres tray or anything else you can think of to display your finished cubes.

Things You'll Need

      Make one long, rectangular piece.

Join four squares by crochet or sewing, making one long, rectangular piece.

    • 3

Fold the rectangle into a box shape and sew the ends together. Your piece should now look like a box that is missing the top and bottom.

    • 4

Sew the fifth square onto one open end. Stuff and then sew the sixth square to the top of the box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Crochet or embroider spots on each square to make dice, or letters and numbers to make building blocks.

  • Try different patterns for each square; e.g., granny squares, window squares and flower squares.
