Instructions

    • 1

Purchase the type of roping you want to attach to the pillow. While you have the option of purchasing store bought roping, you can also twist two cords together to make your own. If you choose to make the roping, calculate the length you need for your project and multiply the measurement by three. Tie one end of the two cords together and twist them in one direction until you reach the other end of the cords. Be sure to tie the other end of the cords to secure the twist.

    • 2

Measure the perimeter of the pillow. Cut the roping so that it is longer than the measurement of the pillow's perimeter. When cutting the roping, add an extra 3-inches to each end.

    • 3

Start at one end of the roping and begin to pin it around the pillow's edges. Place the pins 2-inches apart as you go along.

    • 4

Thread a needle. Be sure to use thread that matches the color of the pillow.

    • 5

Sew the roping by hand around the perimeter of the pillow. Using a blind stitch ensures that you won't be able to see the stitches. Continue sewing the roping around the perimeter until the ends meet. Cut the ends off the roping so that they don't overlap. Sew a small piece of matching fabric over the section where the roping ends meet in order to conceal that spot. Remove the pins.
