PowerPoint 98/2000 lets you evenly space objects on a slide so that the slide can look balanced. Use the Distribute Horizontally or Distribute Vertically commands to space three or more objects on a slide.
Select the first of three or more objects you want to evenly space.
Step2
Hold down the Shift key and click the remaining objects you want to evenly space.
Step3
If the Drawing toolbar isn't present at the bottom of the PowerPoint window, go to the View menu and select Toolbars, then select Drawing to open the Drawing toolbar.
Step4
Go to the Drawing toolbar and click Draw. A menu opens.
Step5
Click Align or Distribute, then Distribute Horizontally or Distribute Vertically to align the objects you selected.
Tips & Warnings
PowerPoint's default leaves the left- and right-most objects and the top- and bottom-most objects in their original positions and evenly distributes only those objects between them.
To align all of the objects evenly across a slide, select Align or Distribute, then select Relative to Slide.

Distribute and Align!! This is what makes the difference between a great presentation and dreck. Make sure that objects are aligned with each other and spaced evenly apart. Consistent use of fonts and colors and careful use of 3D and shadows also help.
