How to Lower a Depth Finder in a Transducer
If the fish aren't biting, one method to try to find them is through an electronic fish-finder. Fish-finders are mounted on boats and use echolocation -- a type of sonar -- to locate objects under the water. Electronic fish-finders are made up of several pieces, including the monitor, the transducer and the power cables. The transducer is a device that sends out electronic pulses through the water that bounce back after finding or bouncing off an underwater object. There are two parts of the transducer: the transducer cable and the depth finder. The depth finder is at the head of the transducer cable and is mounted either near the transom or the bow.
Instructions

1
Remove the fish-finder power cable from the boat's battery using an adjustable wrench.
-
2
Unplug the transducer cable from the fish-finder monitor.
-
-
3
Remove the depth finder from its mounting bracket. Remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing it with a screwdriver.
-
4
Position the mounting bracket lower on either the bow or the transom. Ideally the transducer depth finder should be just above the waterline when the boat sits in the water.
-
5
Mount the depth-finder bracket with the screws. Slip the depth finder into its mounting bracket.
-
6
Plug the transducer cable back into the monitor and re-attach the power cord to the boat's battery with the wrench.
